How Many Excursions Can You Do in One Day in Jamaica?
How many excursions can you do in one day in Jamaica? Usually two, sometimes three. Here is how our drivers plan the day.

Most guests fit two excursions into one day without rushing. Three is possible when the stops sit close together and you start early. What decides it is not your energy, it is the drive time between attractions and how long each one actually holds you once you get there.
How long does a single Jamaica excursion actually take?
People plan around the ticket time and forget everything around it. Here is what our drivers see on a normal day.
Dunn's River Falls takes about an hour and a half once you count the walk down to the beach, the climb itself and drying off after. Blue Hole runs one to two hours depending on how many jumps you want to do. An ATV ride is closer to two hours by the time you gear up, sit through the safety briefing and come back muddy. Bamboo rafting on the Martha Brae is roughly an hour and a half on the water. River tubing is about an hour of drifting plus the ride up to the entry point.
Then there are the ones that take a whole half day on their own. A catamaran booze cruise is a half-day commitment. So is the Chukka Ocean Outpost package, which already stacks ziplining, ATV, horseback riding and a catamaran cruise into one full day. If you book one of those, that is your day, and it is a good day.
Which excursions pair well together?
The pairings that work are the ones where the second stop is a short drive from the first.
Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole is the one we run most. Both sit in St Ann and the drive between them is about half an hour on country road. Start at nine and you are usually back at the hotel by mid afternoon.
ATV and river tubing works because you are already muddy and wet, so one change of clothes covers both. Rasta Safari and ATV we sell as a single combo for the same reason, the two halves happen on the same property.
Bamboo rafting sits nicely with a shopping stop or a beach afternoon, because rafting is calm and leaves you with plenty in the tank. Luminous Lagoon is an evening trip, so it stacks on top of almost any day tour without competing with it.
What does not work is two big water attractions on opposite ends of the north coast. You will spend the best part of your day looking at the back of our headrest.
Does where you are staying change the answer?
More than anything else on this page.
Montego Bay to Ocho Rios is about two hours each way on a good run. Montego Bay to Negril is about an hour and a half. So if you are staying in Negril and you have your heart set on Dunn's River Falls, understand you are giving roughly six hours to the road. That is a one-excursion day, and we will tell you so when you book rather than after.
Guests staying in Ocho Rios have the easiest time stacking, because Dunn's River, Blue Hole, Dolphin Cove, Green Grotto Caves and Mystic Mountain all sit within a short drive of each other. Guests in Montego Bay do well with rafting, ATV, the Luminous Lagoon and the run down to Negril for Rick's Cafe.
What time should we pick you up?
Earlier than you want. For a two-stop day we usually suggest between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning.
Two reasons for that. Cruise ships dock in Ocho Rios in the morning and Dunn's River fills up fast once those buses arrive, so getting there near opening means a calmer climb and better pictures. The other reason is traffic. Friday afternoons on the north coast road are slow, and school traffic builds again around three. An early start buys you the whole back half of the day.
What quietly ruins a three-stop day?
Small things, mostly. Not packing a dry change of clothes, so the driver waits while you sort yourself out. A long sit-down lunch when a patty and a box drink would have kept you moving. An unplanned craft market stop. None of it is a problem on its own, but half an hour here and there is how the third stop disappears.
Tell your driver at pickup which stop matters most to you. If we know the third one is the reason you came, we will protect the time for it.
Can you do an excursion on arrival or departure day?
On arrival day, usually not, unless you land before noon and your hotel is close. On departure day it depends on your flight. Something short and dry, like a shopping run or a beach stop, is fine before an evening flight. Anything with water or mud in it is cutting things fine.
If you want that sorted properly, book your private airport transfers and the excursion together and we will build the timing around your flight instead of guessing at it.

Frequently asked questions
How many excursions can I do in one day in Jamaica?
Two is comfortable for most guests. Three works when the stops sit close together, like Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole in St Ann, and when you start by eight in the morning. Past that you spend the day in the vehicle instead of in the water.
Can I do Dunn's River Falls and Blue Hole on the same day?
Yes, and it is the pairing we run most often. The two sit about half an hour apart by road and each one holds you for roughly an hour and a half. A nine o'clock start usually has you back at your hotel by mid afternoon.
How early should the driver pick me up for a two-excursion day?
We usually suggest between 7:30 and 8:00 in the morning. That gets you to Dunn's River Falls ahead of the cruise ship crowd and keeps you in front of the afternoon traffic on the north coast road. Sleeping in is the quickest way to lose your second stop.
I am staying in Negril. Is an Ocho Rios excursion still worth it?
Only if that attraction is the reason you came. The drive runs about three hours each way from Negril, so it becomes a one-excursion day and a long one. If you would rather stay close to the hotel, Negril has ATV, parasailing, 7 Mile Beach and Rick's Cafe within a short run.
